Hello to ALL and I hope you are well and Happy- WE; above all people, DESERVE AT LEAST THAT!

Please allow me to POSITIVE rant a bit.

BE PROUD of who you are and all you have been through- from my POV it is just over a metric $*@#()$! ton with more to come. And you would not be the bad ass you are if you haven’t survived this! Be proud of that at least!

Register! And register often for every minor detail- Burden their resources. Resources that they spend to try to corral us into what they believe we are- while ignoring who we are and what we do instead of who we were and what we did. Gain 15 pounds? RE-REGISTER! Grow a mustache? RE-REGISTER! Shave one off? RE-REGISTER! Take another job- Re-Register! QUIT! Re-Register!

Buy a car! Re-Register! SELL IT! Re-Re-Register! Everything you can do to burden the system- DO IT! And smile while they take your picture- Be the WARRIOR you ARE!
With our loved ones included there are FAR more of us than there are of them! We are VAST in number! Don’t believe in the secluded empty box they want you to think you are in!

Get everyone you know to write letters to the lawmakers describing the unconstitution ality of these laws! HELL! Write them yourself telling the truth- and get your loved ones to sign them- and send them! Call the legislature and describe why these laws are burdensome and illogical! Come from CRITICAL THINKING! Come from TRUTH! You know what the Truth is! Don’t be a wussy! Describe the situation in detail! One letter a day? is that too much to ask for all you have suffered? Take the voices of your loved ones and turn them into swords!!!

If anyone judges you- Burn them on the spot! You are too fine a person to let that MORON bring you down! Trust me, you want people who love you for who you are NOW- Maybe,… even can see who you CAN be!!! Some potential Employer can’t see your value?? Is THAT where you wanna work? REALLY?? Some new person in your life doesn’t think you are good enough to be a part of theirs? REALLY?? HA! Leave that idiot standing there! You can’t help them- they cheated themselves! NOT YOU!

The past is dead! And; do you REALLY think that you did anything that someone hasn’t thought of? Dreamed of? OR DONE! Caught or not!! The REAL battle is in the mind!
Romans 12:2
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
Philippians 4:4-9
Be the Warrior you ARE!!
Do these things as a warrior and you will be blessed beyond measure!

And with this over your head- you have a responsibility! To everyone with the scarlet letter burned into them- and the thousands to come, day by day that need YOUR help! STAND UP! Be the person you always believed and knew in your heart you could be!
What else do we really have?

Do not let that thought become truth that you are powerless!
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
― Margaret Mead

Now put in the effort and don’t be a coward or a lame-ass! The people that work this site ARE doing it. You need to also- or you will always regret it. No one ever says at the end- Oh! I wish I could have done less!
Give all of yourselves- ALL! Waste the time and resources of those who try to keep you down and build, Build, BUILD on those people who care not for the past- BUT for who you ARE! NOW!!!!

You got this far, right? Most would never be be brave enough to. Now stop focusing on what you CAN’T do. We had enough of that S#!%T!
What CAN you do????

There is a prize if you can be creative! The rules are simple!
Come from TRUTH!
Come from LOGIC!
Come from POWER!

And anyone who can’t understand reason is LOWER than you are- I don’t give a F#%&K what you did!
This isn’t about YOU! This is about US!!! And don’t you dare let US down.

    You are absolutely correct!

There are people who commit unbelievably horrific acts everyday, but they have good lawyers or some special status in society that gives them a free pass.

Here in Iowa, MONEY is the name of the game. Fines, expensive classes, registration fees, and on and on. When a man is accused of sexual crimes, arrested, blacklisted, and damned even before the trial – and then the woman decides it was all a mistake, NOTHING happens to her! She totally destroyed his life, his wife’s life, his kids life – and she gets off scott free!

There has to be a balance in society.

I do commend your Scripture references.

Getting kicked in the ass once in a while tends to put your life into a more realistic perspective. You learn who your “real” friends and family are.

I applaud your positive tone …. we ALL need that once in a while!

I too believe it’s best to be positive even though it is very difficult. Sometimes the MOST DIFFICULT thing to do turns out to be the best when it comes to human emotions.

Just this morning I was reading that everything happens for a purpose according to a plan for our lives. I used to believe that wholeheartedly and it’s easy to believe that when things are peachy but in the life of a RSO and collateral such as family and friends, it takes a bit more concentrated effort and that is what I am working on. I have decided that this whole thing has taken enough life out of me and tried to completely destroy my family. We fought and still fight back against the odds but it is very hard to do and it has taken a lot out of me. I will not let one more person throw negativity on me one more time, I will throw it off and turn the other way. I am stronger today than I was yesterday and tomorrow I will be stronger still!

I will not trade my life for anyone’s sinister attitude, not for their amusement or their satisfaction and that’s what I think the laws against RSO’s are all about, simply to destroy to satisfy their nasty attitudes. Evidenced by the nasty attitudes that exist and laws that are made. The right attitude should be people trying to help people recover and rebuild their lives after they have been caught and punished. True, there are some who have allowed themselves to become completely unworthy and/or incapable of being rehabilitated or helped but that is not the majority of any criminal conviction including RSO’s.

I believe that it would be poetic justice if all RSO’s, their families, loved ones and friends could come together to fight evil with love. When we fall into anger and hate, the Devil wins. Can we do it? Not all at once but each of us can just a little bit at a time fight against the darkness that threatens us. We can each light our own candle every time we feel negative and begin to win.

      Opinion of one KT.

Only being positive and without hate we can do something. I think you should put together our minds in the positive outcomes of our lives together. You should all think everyday and everyday that our registry is over and our probation is done. Think about it again and again and again. think together and write to them also. Excellent idea. Write, write, write. tons of letters.
Could you post the address to whom we should write in Arizona? and for the other member the legislature of their state? Or should we write straight to the federal legislator?
    Arizona, come together.

I can relate to this article…but for me to grow a mustache and re-register or shave it off and re-register takes time out of my day…for me to swing by the Sheriffs office and get in line to amend my rap sheet cost me money I don’t have…I applaud the reasoning behind the madness but the Sheriffs office doesn’t even require me to amend my rap sheet with facial hair or not between scheduled re-registration…

Personally I don’t like playing those kinds of games with the authorities…over time several of the Officers recognize me and are pleasant and courteous to me…they actually smile and ask me how I’m doing…pat me on the back and kid with me…I feel respected for who I am not what I once did…One time the reporting officer showed me a photo of myself back when my dark cloud took form…we both chuckled but my response made him realize one major factor…I said looking at my younger photo…”I was a foolish young man”…he stopped, looked at me and nodded his head with approval and recognition…we are on a first name basis…

So for me to burden this system with re-registration upon re-registration and make other fellow registered citizens wait seems a little selfish… Of course I’ve been turned down countless times for gainful employment…and having to re-register 4 times a year is punitive both financially and physically…and I don’t understand how new laws can be blanketed over the entire population of registered Citizens retroactive for all in this genre can even be legal…

My walk (I’m a Christian) says more about me than my past or the consequences of my sin…If I intentionally clog up a system designed to track potential threats to other victims I’m not fighting against big brother but The Lord…I trust The Lord will make my way straight and my path smooth…regardless of my mess…I am truly blessed even with this dark cloud above my head…and yes I do have some tense moments with Law Enforcement on occasion…but I have my health, peace in my heart, know who I am in Christ, and all my needs are met trusting in the Lord to meet them…

If the details of my situation change I WILL make a trip to the Sheriffs Office to fill out the appropriate paper work…that’s my obligation to the system…that way I’m not charged with another crime or worse sent off to prison…stirring up a hornets nest doesn’t always get the desired results…I do understand the premise and idea behind getting Legislators to ease the pain with clogging up the system with bureaucracy and mounds of red tape…but over the years I realized not all the information I give them is entered into the computer…it’s more of a formality from what I gather…they know where I live and have lived for over 12 years…that I own my home, my business and both my vehicles…that I’m not going anywhere…that I’ve shown a pattern of good intentions…not ill will for others or the tendencies foolish men and women can portray…

So I keep up on the latest and greatest…I give to charitable organizations and to the Lord…my intentions are honorable…and so for me if I get my life right with the Lord, He will make it right with me…

Keep up the good work my friends and Keep the Faith…Jesus can and will fight with us and for us…

    God Bless….G Butler

i may not be working, but i don’t have the audacity to do something like that.

No sin is greater than the blood of Jesus and i know when the day of judgement comes, we’ll all answer for all we’ve done. Even those we have to cower down to, simply because of power. We still have to obey the laws of the land and the laws of God. BUT, When the laws of the land go against the laws of God that is where i have an issue. Lets get right with God together for few were chosen and you could be one of them.

I really wish the media and any other organization would stop publishing, producing or relying on reports and opinions from law makers or any organizations about how great sex offender registration and notification laws work or how residency restrictions and presence restrictions are needed. They are using false statistics and pure myths to further their personal agendas under the guise of protecting children. None of these failed policies have achieved any positive results in the US and are in fact destroying the lives of thousands of innocent children and their families because one of their parents or family members are on such a registry. Individuals and organizations should have enough integrity to investigate their claims before they publish it or rely on it and be sure that there is some credibility to it and not just a platform to exploit children for a law makers personal gains or their own. Here are some facts from the leading authorities on this subject which indicate what a failure these registration and public notification laws are in the US. These laws are a waste of tax dollars and are a misplaced use of valuable law enforcement and government agency resources.

California Sex Offender Management Board (CASOMB) End of Year Report 2014. (page 13)

Under the current system many local registering agencies are challenged just keeping up with registration paperwork. It takes an hour or more to process each registrant, the majority of whom are low risk offenders. As a result law enforcement cannot monitor higher risk offenders more intensively in the community due to the sheer numbers on the registry. Some of the consequences of lengthy and unnecessary registration requirements actually destabilize the life’s of registrants and those -such as families- whose lives are often substantially impacted. Such consequences are thought to raise levels of known risk factors while providing no discernible benefit in terms of community safety.

National Institute of Justice (NIJ) US Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs United States of America.

The overall conclusion is that Megan’s law has had no demonstrated effect on sexual offenses in New Jersey, calling into question the justification for start-up and operational costs. Megan’s Law has had no effect on time to first rearrest for known sex offenders and has not reduced sexual reoffending. Neither has it had an impact on the type of sexual reoffense or first-time sexual offense. The study also found that the law had not reduced the number of victims of sexual offenses.

The University of Chicago Press for The Booth School of Business of the University of Chicago and The University of Chicago Law School Article DOI: 10.1086/658483

Conclusion. The data in these three data sets do not strongly support the effectiveness of sex offender registries. The national panel data do not show a significant decrease in the rate of rape or the arrest rate for sexual abuse after implementation of a registry via the Internet. The BJS data that tracked individual sex offenders after their release in 1994 did not show that registration had a significantly negative effect on recidivism. And the D.C. crime data do not show that knowing the location of sex offenders by census block can help protect the locations of sexual abuse. This pattern of noneffectiveness across the data sets does not support the conclusion that sex offender registries are successful in meeting their objectives of increasing public safety and lowering recidivism rates.

These are not isolated conclusions but are the same outcomes in the majority of conclusions and reports on this subject from multiple government agencies and throughout the academic community.

People, including the media and other organizations should not rely on and reiterate the statements and opinions of the legislators or other people as to the need for these laws because of the high recidivism rates and the high risk offenders pose to the public which simply is not true and is pure hyperbole and fiction. They should rely on facts and data collected and submitted in reports from the leading authorities and credible experts in the fields such as the following.

California Sex Offender Management Board (CASOMB) (page 38)

Sex offender recidivism rate for a new sex offense is 1.8%

Within 3 years following their 1994 state prison release, 5.3 percent of sex offenders (men who had committed rape or sexual assault) were rearrested for another sex crime, the Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) announced today.

Findings: Study of 759 adult male offenders under community supervision Re-arrest rate: 4.6% after 3-year follow-up The sexual re-offense rates for the 746 released in 2005 are much lower than what many in the public have been led to expect or believe. These low re-offense rates appear to contradict a conventional wisdom that sex offenders have very high sexual re-offense rates.

The recidivism rate for sex offenders returning on a new sex offense was 1.05%, one of the lowest in the nation. In a time when sex offenders continue to face additional post-release requirements that often result in their return to prison for violating technical rules such as registration and residency restrictions, the instances of sex offenders returning to prison due to the commitment of a new sex crime is extremely low. Findings: sex offenders returning on a new sex offense was 1.05%

Once again, These are not isolated conclusions but are the same outcomes in the majority of reports on this subject from multiple government agencies and throughout the academic community. No one can doubt that child sexual abuse is traumatic and devastating. The question is not whether the state has an interest in preventing such harm, but whether current laws are effective in doing so. Megan’s law is a failure and is destroying families and their children’s lives and is costing tax payers millions upon millions of dollars. The following is just one example of the estimated cost just to implement SORNA which many states refused to do.

From Justice Policy Institute. Estimated cost to implement SORNA Here are some of the estimates made in 2009 expressed in 2014 current dollars: California, $66M; Florida, $34M; Illinois, $24M; New York, $35M; Pennsylvania, $22M; Texas, $44M. In 2014 dollars, Virginia’s estimate for implementation was $14M, and the annual operating cost after that would be $10M.

For the US, the total is $547M. That’s over half a billion dollars – every year – for something that doesn’t work.

The Supreme Court has fed the fear of frightening high sex offender recidivism rates that has proven to be universally untrue. It’s become the “go to” source that courts and politicians rely upon for “facts” about sex offender recidivism rates that aren’t true. Its endorsement has transformed random opinions by self-interested non-experts into definitive studies offered to justify law and policy, while real studies by real scientists go unnoticed. The Court’s casual approach to the facts of sex offender re-offense rates is far more frightening than the rates themselves, and it’s high time for correction.

The sources relied upon by the Supreme Court in Smith v. Doe, a heavily cited constitutional decision on sex offender registries, in fact provide no support at all for the facts about sex offender re-offense rates that the Court treats as central to its constitutional conclusions. This misreading of the social science was abetted in part by the Solicitor General’s misrepresentations in the amicus brief it filed in this case. The false “facts” stated in the opinion have since been relied upon repeatedly by other courts in their own constitutional decisions, thus infecting an entire field of law as well as policy making by legislative bodies. Recent decisions by the Pennsylvania and California supreme courts establish principles that would support major judicial reforms of sex offender registries, if they were applied to the actual facts.

I think the media or other organizations need to do a in depth investigation into the false assumptions and false data that has been used to further these laws and to research all the collateral damages being caused by these laws and the unconstitutional injustices that are occurring across the country. They should include these injustices in their report so the public can be better informed on what is truly happening in this country on this subject.

    Thank you for your time.

I send this to every authors email or post it ecstatic chance I get. I suggest others do so to.
