I am appalled at the laws/restrictions placed on/or against RSO’s. In particular, the Alabama requirements to registrants to pay a fee. More specific, the homeless or indigent, who have to report every week.

The worst part of the whole process of making RSO’s is our legal system is a joke. Justice is blind and if you are young and naive, you are taken advantage of by lawyers. I was terrorized by my lawyer and the court as the process was dragged out for a year. I was accused by one person, but that person was represented by The People, the State, lawyers working for themselves to get convictions (not the Truth or justice)… and I was ripped from my home, put into jail and kept in isolation, forced to drug test twice a week after family bonded me out, lost my job because of the accusations, continually hounded for more and more money, told I would be raped and killed in prison, until finally I was told if took a PLEA BARGAIN, I’d never go to prison and registration was temporary. I was terrified into a coma state, afraid to even speak else I be thrown back in jail. The day after I finally agreed to a plea, violations were brought against me and I was put in prison for 15 years without the right to a jury trial anymore even. When I was released, I was told I had to register for the rest of my life. I’ve tried appealing. I am innocent. I was sleeping and terrified of prison and death when they got me… now, I’d rather face burning at the stake than the SOR regulations and laws, the threats and abuse I get from neighbors vibrating at dense frequencies, and the constant threat of going in to register and find out their is so new warrant made up against me–which has been done once since my release. Police put out false warrants and even though they are dismissed in court, I spend time in jail and my life is upended.

I definitely understand your circumstance. Now then is the time to do something about your situation. I don’t know if you did your crime or not. But I know first you need a support system. Then you need to have housing and a career that hires sex offenders. Once you are stable then you can fight against this injustice. The injustice is not that if need help you are required to have therapy. The injustice is the blanket to make everyone seem like they are the very worst of sex offenders.

      August 3, 2016 at 3:04 am

I too was terrorized by my lawyer and the court as the process was dragged out for a year. I was accused by no victim, just law enforcement and the DA, lawyers working for themselves to get convictions (not the Truth or justice)… and I was ripped from my home and had my home searched without my consent and without a search warrant, forced to pay $10k to post bail. Forced to meet with the courts psychologist who determined I was at low risk along with my own therapist that told the court I was very low risk. I had to move out of the area due to threats because of the accusations, and my ignorant Harvard attorney continually hounded for more and more money, then told me I would be raped nightly and killed in prison, unless I took a took a PLEA BARGAIN. He said I’d never go to prison, just 3 years probation and registration would be easy as it was not then public. No other conditions I had to worry about. The 1st 10 years was easy, but now 20 years later, everything has changed and life is a living hell.

So Stephen D.C., I understand your pain. Our stories are partially similar. At least we have some hope with the new legal and emotional help that is starting to emerge, especially in California.

Welcome to the CLUB, Steven… the one society keeps pounding us on the head with. My situation mirrors your own exactly. I’d be willing to bet a dollar against a dime that we are far from alone, and that our numbers reach the majority of those convicted and sentenced. I have never molested anyone, anywhere, or any-when. I’m a published author and television writer from the last century and currently suffering from restraint of trade thanks to the ban on social media for RSOs. If an author wants to self-publish with Amazon’s Kindle or any other program like it, it’s vital to be able to promote one’s work online. That route is closed to RSOs, at least until this Packingham case is adjudicated in our favor. Unlike Claude Raines in “Casablanca” who was “shocked! Shocked to find gambling going on” in Rick’s casino, I had a for-real shock to discover that journalistic curiosity was now a criminal offense.

As 2016 comes to an end, so does the case against Mr. Higgs. Although the case was “rigged” against him from the start. The facts are that the victim recanted her story two months after charges were bought against Mr. Higgs, only to be ignored by DHS and CACD noted that she was still in DHS custody when she sent her mother the text message detailing what really happened to her and by whom dismissing Mr. Higgs from the whole situation. Once this was brought to the attention of the prosecuting attorney(Booher) she also disregarded it stating that she believes the original story told and was going to proceed with charges anyway. Mr. Higgs attorney (Bassett) went back and forth with the prosecutor until an agreed upon plea deal was submitted because according to policies cases involving crimes against children wasn’t allowed to be dropped even if the prosecution wanted to, they would have to see it all the way to jury trial and that was something both sides wanted to avoid considering what was at steak for both sides if they were to lose the case. We had a chance to sit down with Mr. Higgs and discuss the specifics and come to find out there was more to this case than what was made public. According to a police report by benton county sheriffs office and investigation was opened agaist the CACD investigator Whitney Adams who was accused of fabrication abuse reports in over 43 cases with the possibility of almost every case she worked. Mr. Higgs believes his case was one of those cases. (Google search “Whitney Adams Investigation” for more information) Mr. Higgs stated that he and his lawyer was unaware of this situation and wouldn’t have accepted a plea agreement if they did. He stated “I feel that that was something the prosecution knew but kept from us and why the plea arrangement was so light considering what I was charged with” He went on to say “Even thought the plea was light I still didn’t want to accept it but my lawyer made it clear what I would face if I took it to trial and lost, small price for an innocent man to pay”….He still feel he was being set up by DHS, CACD (Which is a division ran by dhs) and the prosecution to take the fall anyway because they knew once the victim changed her story they were at risk of being exposed and sued. from what we gathered from Mr. Higgs he is a very intelligent individual who does not appear to be the monster they tried to make him out to be. He said he has never had faith in the justice system especially after this ordeal of events. “I took a plea as an innocent man only to protect myself from having my life taken away by a system that has it’s own interests to protect, take from that what you will” Mr. Higgs Stated. The plea was misdemeanor sexual assault with 1yr probation and must register as a sex offender. He said that the victim has apologized multiple times for lying about him he said he has forgiven her but this will be hard to overcome because he now has to be known as something that he surely is not, he also stated that his lawyer isn’t finished with his case that once he finishes his probation he will seek a pardon from the Arkansas Governor. We wish Mr. Higgs well and pray that he will be able to bounce back from all this.

It doesn’t seem to be justice for the victim but rather justification for the state. Interesting, I wouldn’t think the state would have much of a case if the victim recanted their accusation in the court of law.

Your statement as I read is considered in my judgment to be accurate and true based on your experience and to the best of my knowledge, indicative of a legal system that is ethically and morally offensive. As I have also been convicted of a crime that was not a true crime, but one fabricated in order to satisfy the politics of state control and that to justify taxation. The real motives of these people who are over zealous and in truth evil in their callous nature to abuse and neglect real justice. They are out to destroy people’s lives based on their psychopathology to have to punish other humans as they feel fit. The culprits also feed of it in a personal sadistic enjoyment they derive from bullying people, often innocent people.

These culprits are driven by the profit for their own career wins to get more counts and mostly for procuring money under the guise of law. Their intended business is cruel and substantially criminal in its own doing. Their extremism is one imposed to create human suffering and has no hallmark of righteousness as it is a fake doctrine of so called-justice. Now, I can proof these facts given the time and opportunity, beyond that, these criminal minds who judge and condemn have taken control of the judicial system to enjoy the profits of the reward of branding another human a criminal. These bullies have the state baking their decisions often when they are faulty to the degree of total fraudulence. Prove me wrong if you are not a victim of the system.

Finally, a place where I, as an RSO can have a voice without being browbeat, yelled down, for the sake of “respectable society”. I made a mistake. I admit it. 30 years ago. Is it fair that I be branded for the rest of my life? I have been on parole and registration for only a year, and will do what I’m told, but the laws against SOs in an overly sexually obsessed society of extremist political pandering, are beyond outrageous. Where are the voices of reason? All I hear is fear, fueled by political interests. I always knew fear was the Great Motivator, but now I, as an RSO am the object of fear, job descrimination…an easy person to hate because of how I’m labeled. They’re all scared of me?? I’m the one that has a bat inside every door and by my bed! I can’t even own a gun to defend myself against anyone who might decide to be humanity’s savior and shoot me down. All it takes is one drunk, armed redneck who knows who I am.
I know I’m overreacting a bit, but the coming of Halloween and the attendant rules on SOs just has me a little frustrated.
I have not dared express my exasperation until this platform. I ask to be allowed to join, and to kn ooow there are people to talk to. Thank you for being there.

      August 3, 2016 at 3:14 am

If you’re going to have a bat for protection, please also keep a ball and glove nearby to prove it wasn’t there just as a weapon. The DA can turn using a bat against you if there is no evidence that the bat was there to play baseball. Having a cheep ball and glove nearby will make it harder to prosecute you for having a bat solely for use as a dangerous weapon.

Thanks SOSEN for putting the time and effort into this website. It is very difficult to find information online about the registration requirements state to state, for which I am now searching. I was happily living abroad for years, having established a new life and gainful employment free of registration requirements until the US government notified the foreign government of my adopted country of my offense from 15 years ago. An offense which isn’t even a crime in my newly adopted country. I was thrown in jail (and not nice jail like in America, but sleep on the floor jail) for 10 days until I could organize the funds to fly “home.” Now for the second time in my life I have lost everything. This is a result of the Adam Walsh Act, the same act which now prohibits me from supporting the visa of my fiance’ from joining me here in America. After several years our lives together is over. I wonder just how many families the Adam Walsh Act have and will destroy, all for policy we know to be failed. Now I am scrambling to find housing and despite being an educated, caring, and still fairly young man, I am struggling to find employment. I am one step from homelessness, a prospect I am sure many on this board can empathize with. We live in a crazy, irrational, emotions driven world, and I am not optimistic of things improving in my lifetime.

My son is a ros and currently in prison for a registration issue. He will be released from a Florida prison soon. He needs help to find a place to live. Florida seems to be very restrictive. He too unwisely plead out which at the time was the easiest and it .has destroyed his life . It has also has affected my family and myself as our names are similar. He will be able to leave Florida legally. I am an old man. I want happiness for my son before i go. I hope someone can help with advice. Halfway houses are not helpful. The Salvation Army and similar places will not accept him because of the original charge and liability issues. I was so encouaged to see this webcite. I thank you for your involvement in this tragedy of justice .

My son is now a RSO in the State of Florida! Like many of you above mentioned, the system is truly broken and many lives are being destroyed in the process. My sons guilt is being naive and trustworthy of policemen. He waived his rights to remain silent and the rest is in the registry that will taunt him for life. My concern is that these laws are supposed to protect the children when all the facts and research proves otherwise. The research has proven that these registries are destroying lives and creating collateral damage as well. What happens to the families and the children of the so-called sexual offender? Are they not as IMPORTANT than your political gain and/or your Federal funding that is filtered back to our state from the ADAM WALSH ACT! Let the TRUTH be told. It is all about MONEY,POLITICS, and POWER.

When I am researching cases, I sometimes come across people whom were exonerated of sex crimes but are still listed by 3rd party websites like HomeFacts and Busted. Make sure you get them to remove the false listings.
A man was listed on one that had just got out of a divorce court. The spouse’s attorney wanted to win all the property by falsely claiming that he said that he touched his kids. He worded it in court as a vague question. That made any touching as being a sexual act. He even had him arrested as to confessing. What out for wording of questions and snakes like that Florida attorney.

I need to be a part of something that believes that we are Human Beings, I have done everything asked of me, and still!!! 18 yrs ago I had sex with a underage girl whom I thought was a woman in a drug infested situation, had we all not been high, I and I take responsibility, would NOT have done this. There was No coercion or rape. This Crime was consientiual. I’m very very Sorry. But I still get Black Balled for every thing. I just want to be apart of something that will allow me to be a part of life again. You got questions I will explain. It’s complicated.

I am a registered sex offender that is also on CSL because he kicked a woman out of my apartment for being a mooch and his attorney continuously lied and told him it was not his job to defend me, but only to get my time and/or charge reduced. I have faced nothing but ridicule, violence, threats (both by inmates, citizens, and my parole officer), and a continual barrage of my rights. To see someone who is willing to look past the biased public (mainly media) and actually stand up for what is right and good makes me feel good for knowing there is hope. I am definitely going to join. Thank you and may God continue to bless you and your family in all your endeavors.

The TRUTH that NO news outlet dares to publish.
How a registered sex offender got the Democrats to a super-majority in California and why.

In April of 2011 the Orange County Supervisors passed an ordinance outlawing registered sex offenders from going to parks, beaches and harbors. This action hit me hard because as a parent I saved my son’s life twice once from drowning and once from choking. So, not only did the law violate my rights as a parent but also the safety of my child. The Republicans were on a march to do harm to both me and my family. Oddly I’ve always been a Republican. Come after me I can handle it but put my children in harms way this old soldier will fight back. Assemblyman Bill Brough with his AB-201 last year got me involved at the capital and on the ground in communities across the state.

Because of the Republicans I harnessed all the hairdressers in certain battleground districts and purposed to get Democrats elected. My first efforts in OC were with Lisa Bartlett for supervisor… she was neck and neck with Robert Ming until I unofficially joined her team only 4 weeks before election…she won by double digits!!! “NEVER under-estimate the POWER of the mouth of a hairdresser!” …became my Motto. Next would be John Moorlach for senate. I asked Don Wagner (my assemblyman) to meet with me but as soon as he found out I was a registered sex offender he refused. When he ran for senate ALL the Republicans turned their collective backs on John Moorlach and funded Don Wagner over $500,000 to defeat John Moorlach (Bad call). In April 2011 the ONLY voice of reason over the parks bans was Supervisor Moorlach. So I stood in Don Wagner’s capital office and stated with a loud voice I was going to do everything within my power to keep him as my assemblyman…NOTE: I kept my word he did NOT win the senate. Congressman Ed Royce pushed a passport identifier bill (HR-515) for ALL registrants. It didn’t even get heard via committee. Josh Newman now is knocking on his door as a Democratic Senator because I harnessed all the hairdressers in his district to get him in. How can a democrat with so little political experience get elected in a Republican district running against a seasoned assemblywoman? NEVER under-estimate the POWER of the mouth of a hairdresser!!! Sharon Quark Silva is now an assemblywoman again…wonder why? The Republicans came after my position as a parent and the safety of my child. They made it personal. The ONLY reason I didn’t do more is because of Senator John Moorlach getting wind of my exploits by me telling him I will put the Republicans in California on the endangered species list… He said, “ROBERT What are you doing!?!?” He personally asked me to retreat my efforts and as per our friendship from the 8th of September on I did little campaign efforts, but the damage had already been done. So in a way the Democrats super Majority is due to the Republicans and my efforts against them. On May 8th 2012 I appeared before the OC Supervisors and presented under public comments my position. Supervisor Shawn Nelson got the wrong file from deputy staff and blasted lies about me and my conviction at the end of the meeting. My offense was a misdemeanor NOT involving a child in Nov. of 1999. The comments I made that day shook the place to the ground…they can still be viewed on the OC Supervisor website. After the grinder of probation/parole, therapy and time served registered sex offenders have ONLY a .6% recidivism rate according to the latest Department of Corrections report via the Sex Offender Management Board. So then why do politicians keep pushing harmful laws against these people? The low numbers are because of the systems we have that are working and the real hero’s are those professionals that drive that system…the parole and probation departments, the social workers and therapist these are the unsung hero’s that have help make this happen. Why politicians keep pushing harsh laws is because ANYTHING harmful to a registered sex offender is easily sold as public safety and for protection of children even when the recidivism rates are at an ALL-TIME low. In the history the deep south politicians tied young black male slaves to barn doors to be whipped to show the respectable people how they kept their slaves in line. Today we have a different kind of “Whipping-Boy” keeping that same kind of evil spirit alive. We finally have the perfect kind of Whipping-Boy…we have the registered sex offender. The new Whipping-Boy for votes! Who would dare oppose any actions against these pariahs? Look at SB-26 by Senator Connie Leyva. Now I can’t attend my child’s teacher conference or my son’s athletic events. REALLY? For those good Christians out there I give you Matt. 25:40 “What you do to the least of these my brethren you do it unto Me”, saith the Lord. Who in today’s society is more least than a registered sex offender? So yes I Am the cause of the Democrats having a super-majority but I seriously doubt anyone would dare print that truth.

Hello, I am currently serving probation and have to register once a year. I am a little over half way thru my 10 yr probation sentence. I was turned down for early release even after my P.O. and my therapist said the would recommend my release.
This was a first and only offense that was over 10 yrs ago. I have finished all required therapy and other requirements over a year ago. I only see my P.O. once every 2 months and reregister once a year. I am still trying to find out if i have to still take a poly with me only being on probation. I am tired of paying and paying and paying for every little thing. I am tired of being harassed and turned down for many jobs because of this. I have read in one of the posts here that was by:

    June 6, 2016 at 1:22 pm
This court has jurisdiction because ________________________________________________________________

I the plaintiff ______________________do hereby bring forth this motion for Declaratory and/or Injunction relief.

I was wandering if I can do something like this letter here in Colorado? I was also wandering if I can refuse to take any more poly tests as I have done wrong and have not been in trouble at all. I am not in treatment or anything. Just on probation.
    Can anyone help.
I hope this all makes sense. I am at my wits end. Im so tired of all this.
